From Javanese ꦠꦮꦸꦂ (tawur, “gang fight; sacrifice”), from Old Javanese tawur, tahur (“offering, sacrifice”).
- The ceremony equipment sense is a semantic loan from Sundanese ᮒᮝᮥᮁ (tawur).
