Etymology
From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *g-na-s (“stay, rest”). Cognate with Burmese နား (na:). Possibly also related with Old Chinese 西 (OC *sɯːl) ("west") and Tibetan མནལ་བ (mnal ba, “sleep (honorific)”) (Hill(2019)). Compare Lhao Vo no: and Zaiwa no.
