This template links to a given term, and transcludes the tree of descendants from the term's page. It is intended for use in descendants trees, like one may find in entries of reconstructed terms. It uses Module:descendants tree through the template interface module Module:descendants tree/templates.
Parameters
The parameters are the same as those of {{descendant}}
, except that the second parameter is required.
|notext=1
- Suppress the language name.
|noalts=1
- Don't show alternative forms.
|noparent=1
- Don't show the parent.
Deficiencies
Currently the template/module is implemented somewhat simplistically, and has several shortcomings. It is hoped that these will be resolved by improving the module.
- It does not support alternative forms listed using
{{inline alt forms}}
.
- If the template is being used in an embedded list with
|noparent=1
, and is not immediately under the parent, the list may break and show multiple bullet points on one line. This can be fixed by placing</ul>
after the asterisks.- This should only be done sparingly and the template should be invoked immediately under the parent if possible. However, this can be helpful for macro languages like Chinese where not all descendants can be listed in the main entry.
