Andoras karogs

Etymology

[edit]

A borrowing, via other European languages, probably originally from Spanish or Catalan Andorra, a word of disputed origin. The most probable hypothesis is that it comes from Basque andurrial (“shrub-covered land”), but it is also possible that the source is Arabic الدرا (“the forest”) or Spanish andar (“to walk”).
