[edit]From Aramaic ܫܘܩܡܐ (Christian Palestinian Aramaic) / שׁיקְמָא (šiqmā) (Jewish Palestinian Aramaic) / שוקמא (Jewish Palestinian Aramaic) / ܫܷܩܡܳܐ (šeqmā) (Classical Syriac), from Hebrew שִׁקְמָה (šiqmā́).
