Old Armenian
Etymology
From Proto-Indo-European *nedo- (“reed”). Certain kinds of reeds were used for the making of arrowshafts. Cognate with Sanskrit नड (naḍá), Middle Persian nʾd (nāy, “reed, cane; tube, pipe, flute, clarion”) and Hittite [script needed] (nāta-, “reed, arrow, drinking straw”).
