From Common Turkic *čïg, *čïg-ïk (“wet, soaking, moist; dew; moisture; raw”). Cognate with Turkish çiğ (“raw”) and Turkish çiy (“dew”), Yakut сиик (siik, “dampness, moisture”), etc.
